Job Summary:

Stam Farms is seeking a motivated and skilled Swine Herdsperson to join our team. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about livestock care and interested in playing a vital role in our farm operations. As a Swine Herdsperson, you will be responsible for the daily care and management of our swine herd, ensuring their health, well-being, and productivity. • Experience: 1-2 Basic Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage the health and welfare of the swine herd, including daily health checks and administering medications as needed.
• Assist with breeding programs, including artificial insemination and managing sows during farrowing.
• Feed and water animals according to their nutritional needs and production stage.
• Maintain clean and sanitary living conditions for the herd by regularly cleaning and disinfecting pens, stalls, and equipment.
• Record and maintain accurate data on animal health, breeding, and production performance.
• Identify and address any signs of illness or distress in animals, working closely with veterinarians as necessary.
• Assist with the loading and unloading of pigs for transport.
• Ensure compliance with all biosecurity, animal welfare, and environmental regulations.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance farm productivity and animal care practices.
• Perform general farm maintenance and repair tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in swine production or livestock management is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Strong understanding of animal behavior and husbandry practices.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Basic understanding of farm machinery and equipment operation is an asset.
