Position Overview:

Sysco Canada is seeking diligent and reliable Freight Handlers under the Temporary Foreign Worker program. This role is critical to the efficient operation of our distribution centers, ensuring that products are accurately and safely loaded, unloaded, and moved throughout our facilities. As a Freight Handler, you will play a key role in maintaining the flow of goods and supporting our mission to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading and Unloading: Safely and efficiently load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, and containers.
  • Order Picking: Accurately pick and stack products according to orders, ensuring correct labeling and packaging.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory counts and organization, ensuring products are stored correctly and are easily accessible.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Quality Control: Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for damage and discrepancies, reporting any issues to supervisors.
  • Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork and electronic records accurately and promptly.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members and departments to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Basic understanding of warehouse operations and equipment handling. Forklift certification is a plus.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure correct order fulfillment and inventory management.
  • Team Player: Strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
