Job Description:

Thrive Honey Inc. is seeking Temporary Foreign Workers approved under the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) program to join our team as Apiary Workers. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining our bee colonies and supporting our honey production process. The ideal candidates are hardworking, adaptable, and have a genuine interest in beekeeping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bee Colony Maintenance: Assist with the care and maintenance of bee colonies, including inspecting hives, monitoring bee health, and ensuring adequate food and water supply. Identify signs of disease, pests, or other issues that may affect bee health.
  • Honey Extraction: Support the honey extraction process, including removing honeycombs, using extractors, and filtering honey. Ensure proper handling and storage of honey to maintain quality and prevent contamination.
  • Equipment Management: Clean and maintain beekeeping equipment, including hives, frames, smokers, and protective gear. Report any equipment malfunctions or damage to supervisors for repair or replacement.
  • Hive Expansion: Assist with the expansion of bee colonies by preparing new hives and introducing new queens. Participate in breeding programs and requeening as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear protective equipment when working with bees. Adhere to beekeeping regulations and company policies to ensure the safety of workers and the well-being of bee colonies.
  • General Farm Tasks: Perform general farm tasks as needed, such as maintaining the grounds, repairing fences, and managing waste. Assist with transporting hives to different locations as required.

Qualifications:

  • LMIA approval for Apiary Worker position.
  • Previous experience in beekeeping or agriculture is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interest in beekeeping and willingness to learn about bee colony management.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
